Maximum Temperature of your Hot Water

Introduction

When it comes to the comfort and convenience of our homes, few appliances are as essential as water heaters. They ensure we have access to hot water for bathing, cooking, cleaning, and more. One crucial aspect to consider when using a water heater is the maximum temperature setting.

Safety Concerns: Safety is a top priority. Scalding can occur at temperatures as low as 49°C, which is why water heaters are now limited to 50 degrees.

Having a higher max temperature increases the risk, especially for children or elderly individuals. Striking a balance between comfort and safety is crucial.

Bacterial Growth: Water heaters set at very low temperatures can encourage the growth of harmful bacteria like Legionella. A minimum water storage temperature of 60 degrees is needed for storage type hot water systems,
This 60+ degree water then feeds through a mixing valve which reduces the water temperature to 50 degrees.

If your not getting 50 degree water from your hot water taps, give me a call.
